Are you happy?

He asks that all the time in his mind. Is she happy with him? Like he's happy with her? If she is, his life is complete. If she isn't he would do everything in his power to grant her happiness.

Allelujah knew Marie better than anyone. Maybe it was because his existence was vital to the person she was. Without Allelujah, Marie might not have existed. Afterall, had no one ever fought to bring Marie into existence, to save her or give her happiness, all there would have been was Soma Peries. It was thanks to Allelujah Marie existed in the first place. Likewise, it was thanks to Marie that Allelujah Haptism existed. Because of this, he was sure he knew who she was better than anyone.

But he could never allow himself the confidence to admit she was completely happy with him. No, there was always some doubt in the back of his mind preventing him from this. He knew it was that he was flawed- and Marie...Marie was forgiving and loving. Despite her mistakes, she was someone who could embrace people and love people despite their flaws. Wasn't there someone more deserving of her than himself, and didn't she deserve someone who made her happy?

Then, when he was thinking about this to himself- something would always happen. His flaws, his regrets, would all wash away as Marie spoke his name and then silently looked at him. With her eyes, she would reaffirm that her only concern was him-

and that she could never go somewhere he was not-

And he would find himself able to go on living a simple life knowing that he brought happiness to the only person that mattered.
